The international Swimming federation scheduled a novel time line of the World Cup series in 2013. Right after the World Championships, the first two legs in Eindhoven and Berlin take place. Many of the successful international participants left Barcelona together, stopped in Eindhoven and performed very well on short-course.

Today, many of the world’s best athletes arrived at Berlin, to attend the FINA Swimming World Cup 2013 – Berlin. While Katinka Hosszu and Chad Le Clos, who already set new World Records in Eindhoven warmed up in the fast Berlin pool, some others were answering the journalist’s questions at the Press Conference.

World champions James Magnussen, Sarah Sjöström, Yannick Agnel, and Silver medalist Marco Koch talked about what they like about the changed FINA World Cup mode and what their plans and expectations for the next season are. Bob Bowman, new coach of Agnel and coach of 18-time Olympic Champion Michael Phelps, and Henning Lambertz, Swimming Head-Coach of Germany, talked about the creative sharing of training conceptions among the coaches.

Yannick Agnel called the World Cup a “social competition”, which means that the athletes can talk to each other and have more fun before and after the races, as some of them already have got their medals from the World Championships or showed top performances in Eindhoven. Looking at their opponents, they expect more records to come from Katinka Hosszu and Chad Le Clos. As Bob Bowman said: “It’s a very fast pool in Berlin, maybe we can see more world records.”
