National titles and U.S. roster spots for next month’s world championships will be on the line for the nation’s top swimmers at USA Swimming’s Phillips 66 National Championships, which opens Tuesday, June 25 at the Indiana University Natatorium on the Campus of IUPUI.

Among the swimmers slated to compete in the star-studded field are more than 30 members of the 2012 U.S. Olympic team, including gold medalists Missy Franklin (Centennial, Colo.) and Ryan Lochte (Daytona Beach, Fla.).

Additional individual event Olympic gold medalists from London scheduled to swim in Indianapolis include Nathan Adrian (Bremerton, Wash.), Tyler Clary (Riverside, Calif.), Matt Grevers (Lake Forest, Ill.), Katie Ledecky (Bethesda, Md.), Allison Schmitt (Canton, Mich.) and Dana Vollmer (Granbury, Texas).

In total, nearly 500 of the nation’s top swimmers are expected to compete in the five-day meet, which will decide who will represent the U.S. in the sport’s biggest international competition outside of the Olympic Games. Complete meet information is available online at

This meet is the sole qualifier for the U.S. team for the pool competition at the FINA World Championships, which runs July 28-Aug. 4 in Barcelona, Spain. The winner of each Olympic event will claim an automatic spot on the roster, and a complete team selection procedure is outlined at

Extensive television coverage of the event will be aired by the NBC Sports Group. Click here for broadcast details. In addition, a live webcast of the entire meet will be streamed online via

This year, Phillips 66 – the title sponsor for the event – is celebrating 40 years of sponsoring USA Swimming, the longest consecutive sponsorship of any amateur sport in history. The company’s association with swimming actually dates back to 1950 when the company created the Phillips Petroleum Splash Club, a local swim program. In the ensuing decades, Phillips 66 has hosted national events, sponsored inner-city swim programs, accepted the AAU Swimming Award, sponsored the Phillips 66 National Championships and, in 2009, helped create the Make a Splash Tour with Cullen Jones. In 1973, the company became an official sponsor of USA Swimming.
