Australian swimmer James Magnussen, who made his Olympic debut at the London 2012 Games, has agreed an endorsement deal with luxury watch brand Maurice Lacroix.

Magnussen will become a brand ambassador of the Swiss firm, having previously held ambassadorial roles with Commonwealth Bank and Samsung in the lead up to London 2012, while his endorsement deal with Subway is set to expire in May.

The 21-year-old recently admitted to having taken Stilnox, a banned prescription drug, as part of a “bonding exercise” during London 2012 along with the other members of the Australian 4x100m freestyle team.

Christopher Leigh, marketing manager of Maurice Lacroix, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be working with someone like James Magnussen for everything he has achieved and as he heads towards his second Olympic Games at Rio 2016.”

“The heritage, stylish design coupled with the new innovate sporting features suits my lifestyle perfectly,” added Magnussen.
